Review Of My Micro-Teaching

Hello!
Today, I did a micro-teaching lesson in ETM3 class.
I would like to write about it.

The objectives of my pre-reading and in-reading activities

We tryed to make students understand about today's topic in pre-reading.
Using brain storming, students could imagine about the farm chemical's danger.
And in in-reading, the objective was to understand the contents of the sentences.

I think those activity was so-so succesful.
Most of the students wrote many words and caught the contents.

The strengths and weaknesses of your mini-lesson

Strengths
We used a picture of the image of farm-chemical danger.
Most of students could understand today's topic and wrote some words.

Weaknesses
We couldn't finish up the lesson because of time-up.
And our explanation might not enough to understand about doing activity.

Discoveries about teaching
I thought teaching is difficult again. In every subject, it can be said.
Especially, English is not our first language. So, teacher should make a lesson easy for students to understand.

How to be a successful English teacher at junior high school

Hello!
I took a Mr.Maruhashi's class in last week. He said that teacher's job is changing students. That means, in 50 minutes class, Teacher should teach something for students. So, if a student feel being bored, the class will be to useless one.

To be a successful English teacher at junior high school, the most important thing I think is to be kind and friendly for everyone. In a school, one of the important thing is COMMUNICATION.

Last year, I did teaching training in a junior high school.
First, I can't talk with students friendly. I didn't understand why. But, one day, I noticed it.
When I talk with some boys in the class after school, we laughed again and again.
Then, they began to speak to me. Next week, I could speak most of the students of the class.
I did just laugh with some students, but it was very important thing for me.

So, to be a successful English teacher at junior high school , communication is very importabt thing.

Teaching Vocabulary

In last class,we learned about two approaches for teaching vocabulary: the Teach and Learn Approach and the Learning through Input Approach. You can see a PowerPoint presentation of the approaches here.
I want to tell you about the strengths and weaknesses of each approach as well as the approach I would use as a Junior High School English teacher.
First, I will talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the Teach and Learn Approach.

Strength:In this way, students can understand easily what teacher tells them. And, they can review the words.

Weakness: Students may be bored and forget the words.

Second, I will talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the Learning through Input Approach.

Strength: Students will memorize the words easily.

Weakness: It is difficult for low revel students to catch up with the class speed.

Lastly as a junior high school English teacher I would favor a Hybrid.

Communicative Activities

Today, I am going to review two of the "typical Japanese junior high school"communicative activities presented in ETM 3. The activities I am going to revieware Matching game and Using movement. You can view them here.

☆Matching game

In last class, I did this activity. I also experienced this game in last year.
In "Engish-Tesaching-Method special class",I played a roll as a teacher.
Then I used some cards and taught how to explain the way to tell how to go to somewhere.
The other student used the cards and did the mathing game.
Making some pairs, they talk about how to get to somewhere.
It was very wonderful! What I thought in the class is "How I make cards is also much important thing for the class.".

I mean, useful cards make the class fun.

Mathing game is a good activity for students to improve their English skills.

☆Using movement

I did this activity, too. Using movement is good for student's brain.
If students sit down long time, they will fall asleep. So, I think this activity is nessesary for the teaching.

My experiences of learning English

Hi! How are you? Today, I'll write about my experiences of learning English.
I met English first in JHS. At first, I don't like English so much. Because I can't understand it.
English grammer was different from Japanese. It made me dislike English.

But I began to like English graduately. My English teacher taught me after school,
and her way of teaching was very understandable.

In my high school, I was crazy for English. I wrote my diary in English and showed it my teacher. Then he pointed out my mistakes. Doing like this, I imploved my skill.

My most enjoyable experience was diary. It have made my English skill.
While my least was studying grammer. At first, I can't understand it completely.

My most valuable language learning activity was taking with my friends in English.
Speaking English is a important part of learning languages. So if I didn't do it, I could't still speak English.
There was no my least valuable language learning activity. All activity has been my power.

Overall, I like English so much and have studied it hard. I'll continue to study it.

I think, what my language learning experience will influence on my teaching is that I can tell student" how to say in English". There are much many words in Japanese, but most students don't know how to say in English. It is the most thing I think.
